1-year stage in our Belgian Corporate Practice
The stagiaire program has a limited duration of one year and is open to qualified and non-qualified lawyers.

The aim of this program is to offer the stagiaire an opportunity to work with and get to know us – and vice versa – with a view to obtaining a permanent position as an associate of the firm. It offers a unique opportunity to graduate students without an English LL.M. to gain solid experience, while working in diverse teams, with lawyers of more than 25 different nationalities.

Our stagiaires work closely with our lawyers on ongoing matters, in order to give them the best possible insight into our Corporate practice.
Stagiaires thus experience the high profile work, international environment, and open and collegial atmosphere that constitute the unique features of Cleary Gottlieb.
  • Qualification Requirements. We receive a very high number of applications for stagiaire positions each year. Candidates need to demonstrate exceptional academic ability and fluency in spoken and written English. In addition, we value extra-curricular achievement, an international mindset, problem-solving attitude and creative thinking. To join our Corporate practice, a Belgian law degree is also required.

  • Education and professional experience: To join our Antitrust practice, candidates need to hold a degree from a university in an EEA Member State. Prior working experience in European competition law is an asset.
  • Grades: We are looking for candidates with exceptional academic results
  • Bar qualification: No Bar qualification is required for this position

French Stagiaire - EU Competition Practice (PPI/Stage Final)

Our Brussels office is seeking outstanding French EFB stagiaires eager to complete their PPI or Stage Final in a world-renowned EU Competition practice.

Programme Structure

We welcome stagiaires either in Brussels, Paris, or a mix of both, for a period ranging from 3 to 6 months.

The programme offers direct exposure to landmark EU competition matters and the opportunity to work in diverse teams with lawyers of more than 25 different nationalities.

Your Experience

Our stagiaires work closely with our lawyers on ongoing matters, ensuring a genuine insight into our Competition practice.  You will be involved in merger control, cartel investigations, State aid, and litigation before the EU Courts, gaining the experience that defines Cleary Gottlieb’s unique combination of rigorous analysis, high responsibility, and a collaborative, collegial atmosphere.

Qualification Requirements

We receive a very high number of applications each year. Successful candidates demonstrate top academic ability and fluency in spoken and written English. To join our Competition practice, you must hold a bachelor and master degree with outstanding grades. Prior working experience in European competition law is an asset.
